I stand still and watch the people walking by. They come in clumps. Couples and groups of friends. Or strangers grouped by stoplights. A baby squats in the center of my frame. Is this really happening? I keep taking pictures.
I didn’t realize that so many people were looking at me. They turn their heads as they walk by. They are not embarrassed and never look away. The mother of the baby walks directly towards the camera and looks straight at me. She knows what I saw.
Can I keep all these pictures? Should I show all these pictures? The best pictures don’t want to stand alone. With their neighbors they can be even better.
Moving through the pictures quickly I see patterns. Jon says why don’t you just do video? I want people to slow down and study the details. I want people to get excited like me.
